Board Member Recruitment Drive and AGM Notice

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce (CVCC) is embarking on a dynamic recruitment campaign to attract exceptional individuals to join its esteemed Board of Directors. As well, the Chamber extends an invitation to its members and stakeholders to participate in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 5:30pm, to be held at the enchanting 40 Knots Winery located at 2400 Anderton Rd, Comox, BC.

As a cornerstone of the local business community, the CVCC is dedicated to fostering growth, prosperity, and collaboration among its members. The Board of Directors plays a pivotal role in driving the Chamber's strategic direction and ensuring the effective governance necessary for its success. The Nominations Committee of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce is actively seeking candidates with a wealth of business acumen, leadership experience, and a passion for advocacy to join the board for a 2-year term beginning April 23, 2024, and concluding April 2026.

Members of the board represent the collective interests of the Chamber's membership and are entrusted with overseeing its operations and initiatives. The effectiveness of the Chamber is intricately tied to the caliber of its leadership, and prospective candidates are encouraged to embody qualities such as:

• A deep understanding of the Chamber's mission and a commitment to advancing its objectives.
• Familiarity with the economic landscape of the Comox Valley, British Columbia, and Canada.
• Proven track record of leadership and advocacy, ideally in a board or executive capacity.
• Strong entrepreneurial skills and a strategic mindset.
• Proficiency in financial management, including the interpretation of statements and risk assessment.
• Critical thinking abilities and a dedication to upholding ethical standards.
• Collaboration and teamwork skills, essential for effective governance.
• A history of community engagement and contribution.

To be eligible for nomination, candidates must be Chamber members in good standing or representatives of Chamber members in good standing (employed at the same business) for a minimum of two years. Additionally, nominees must secure endorsements from two Chamber members in good standing.

The AGM serves as a pivotal moment for the Chamber's membership to convene, review the past year's achievements, and chart the course for the future. Key agenda items include the approval of minutes, financial statements review, operations report, consideration of bylaw amendments, and the election and installation of new directors. Members are encouraged to attend and participate actively in shaping the Chamber's trajectory.
